2025 CAPTAINS GOBLETS

A thank you from our Captain and the Executive for playing in the Captain’s Goblets Competition at Deane Golf Club.\u00a0
The field of 56 players was excellent to see.
The new layout at Deane proved tricky for some, but clearly to the liking of many of you, with some excellent sub-par scoring and many a card play off to decide the prizes.
Some tough pin positions on the short holes yielded only two 2’s: Howard Preston on the short 13th and John Howard saving his best till the last with a 2 on the 18th.
Congratulations to them and to our overall winners: John McKenna (Regent Park) and current Captain of Dunscar Norman Guy, who won on a card play off with 41 points. Thanks to John for returning for the presentation a couple of hours after they finished their game
Well Done to last year’s winner, Howard Preston (Hart Common) and his partner this year Les Clough (Deane) who just missed out on the CPO, coming a very close second.\u00a0 Great effort by Howard to retain the title.
3rd place was a keenly contested affair, with many teams having 40 points.\u00a0 Local man, Gary Mather (Deane) with partner Paul Wright (Great Lever & Farnworth) ultimately winning the CPO for this prize, with a strong back 9 of 23 points.\u00a0 Well done.<\/p>\n\n\n
